I’ve always been someone who tries new gadgets and beauty trends. I grab them, get super hyped for a few weeks, and then… well, that’s usually it. They sit untouched in a drawer, quietly mocking me. But today, I’m here to tell you about the one device that finally broke the streak and became the beauty tool I can’t live without (well this and my CurrentBody Red Light Mask.) Meet the ZIIP.
When I first stumbled across the ZIIP, it was during one of my frequent scrolls through Vanessa’s (Goals to Get Glowing) content. She raved about how the ZIIP was different, and I thought, “Cool, maybe I will try that,” and then immediately forgot how well Vanessa explained it. Flash forward to months later, when Sarah mentioned the ZIIP again and asked if I wanted to try it. I said, “Sure, why not?” but left it sitting in the box until I forgot I even owned it.
The turning point came when ZIIP reached out to Sarah. Something clicked—I decided I was actually going to commit this time. At least to decide if it was worth working with them and if I believed in the product, and if we could honestly speak to it as a beauty tool. I told myself, “Just two months, stick with the app routines, and see if it’s worth all this hype.” Spoiler alert? My dentist probably wishes I was as dedicated to flossing as I am to this device.
First, we need to talk about what sets the ZIIP apart. It’s not just a microcurrent device like NuFace or others I’ve tried (and kind of failed to commit to.) Not that Nuface is bad, it still gives good microcurrent results but ZIIP combines microcurrent (immediate results like lifted cheekbones, reduced lines) and nanocurrent (long-term improvements like smoother texture and reduced inflammation.)
Nanocurrent is the real game-changer here. It works on a cellular level to encourage skin regeneration and smoothness over time. It feels like I’m giving my skin the energy boost it didn’t know it needed. This dual-technology approach is what had people like Vanessa and her mom, Sandy, talking about it in the first place.
Vanessa does a great job of explaining the science and technology in her blog here.
I will try to summarize it in a few sentences.
Essentially, the ZIIP microcurrent/nanocurrent technology can use different waveform shapes and patterns via treatment routines in app. This means the device can create more complex patterns and this means your skin is, basically, forced to react which increases your cellular response. This can increase cell turnover, and therefore, improves texture, reduces lines, lightens hyperpigmentation, etc.
I started with the “30 Days to Better Skin” routine in the ZIIP app. At first, it felt like a small chore—but by the second week, I found myself looking forward to those 5-12 minute sessions. My skin started feeling tighter, smoother, and just better. It was also a nice little relaxing treat to sit down and not think about anything else for 15 minutes.
At first, I kept my ZIIP tucked next to my bed and used it as a nighttime ritual. But then I realized it’s even better in the morning. It wakes up my face and leaves me looking fresh for the entire day. Plus it clears my stuffy sinuses in the AM.
I keep it super simple:
Also, the ZIIP is travel-friendly. For Sarah’s birthday trip, I packed it in my carry-on and couldn’t believe how helpful it was in dealing with post-flight puffiness. This thing is portable and life-changing.
Here’s the thing. I’m a habitual over-promiser when it comes to fancy self-care routines. I download the app, buy the products, and then… lose interest. But with ZIIP, I stick with it. Why?
I can’t talk about ZIIP without raving about the Golden Gel. It’s the magic conductive gel that does not dry out but it’s also an amazing skincare product in its own right. I sometimes leave it on as a hydrating mask post-treatment because it feels so good.
There are lots of conductive gel options on ZIIP, and in general on other retail sites, that you can use that fit within a variety of budgets.
We’re 70+ days in, and I’m officially ZIIP’s biggest fan. It’s part of my daily routine now, and I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon. I love that it’s not just a one-trick pony. It tackles everything from puffiness to fine lines to acne, and it’s backed by solid tech that makes me feel like I’m really doing something good for my skin. I use it 4-5 times a week. They state that the maximum usage is 6 days per week, but I would definitely ease into use when you first get started.
If you’re still sitting on the fence about whether ZIIP is worth investing in, my answer is an enthusiastic yes. Sure, it’s a commitment, but it’s one I actually want to stick with.
