Before we jump in, I feel it’s important to set the stage. Sarah and I grew up in what I’d describe as a middle-class, humble home. Our childhood vacations were more Myrtle Beach road trips, Kings Island, and retirement mobile home community visits in Fort Myers than luxury escapes and reviews at beachside resorts like Las Ventanas Al Paraiso. And you know what? We loved every single minute of it. A Holiday Inn with a free breakfast felt like the peak of luxury to us when we were kids.

But fast forward to now—with a love for travel, a dash of good fortune, and a slight taste for the finer things in life—we’ve been lucky enough to experience some incredible luxury stays that we want to share with you. Not as an “expert” in luxury travel, but as someone who values authentic experiences and knows how it feels to want to splurge on something that is truly special. This brings us to our latest stay and review at Las Ventanas al Paraiso, a Rosewood Resort, in Los Cabos, Mexico.

A Bit About Cabo San Lucas

Cabo wasn’t always on my radar. Growing up in Ohio, if you heard about someone going to Mexico, it was usually to Cancun. Cabo was this glamorous, almost mythical place we only saw in movies—or in my case, during Kristin’s infamous table fight in Laguna Beach. My first introduction to Cabo came during a girls’ trip with a travel group, and it was an instant love affair.

Since then, Cabo has turned into a staple getaway for Sarah, myself, and friends. From all-inclusive adults-only stays at Marquis Los Cabos to vacation rentals at La Auberge, Cabo has a knack for serving up a variety of luxury lodging options. But this time, our group decided to up the ante with a stay and at the iconic Las Ventanas Paraiso Los Cabos, which is a Rosewood Resort – a name with reviews synonymous with luxury.

First Impressions of Las Ventanas Al Paraiso

After a long day of travel (because, of course, there are no direct flights from Columbus), we were greeted at the airport by Las Ventanas-affiliated transportation. From that moment, we got a glimpse of what sets this place apart. I immediately noticed a personal touch—like the thoughtful artist residency program during our stay with Tess Ramirez of My Father’s Daughter Designs. (Who is great by the way and you should totally check out her review and work.)

Upon arrival at the property, we were welcomed with warm smiles and a pomegranate margarita in hand (non-alcoholic options available too). But then came what I’d classify as a hiccup of our stay—our reservations. Despite booking through extensive email correspondence, our check-in process was a bit chaotic, with one night seemingly missing from the system.

After some back and forth, we finally settled into our first room, and it was worth every second of frustration.

The Room

Oceanview Rooftop Suite at Las Ventanas al Paraiso Los Cabos

The first night of our stay at Las Ventanas Al Paraiso was spent in an Oceanview Rooftop Terrace Junior Suite. I’m not exaggerating when I say this room set the bar impossibly high. From the incredible rooftop area to the panoramic ocean views, every inch of this suite exuded luxury. The suite was 1400 square feet of Mexican charm with high ceilings. Complimented by an outdoor hot tub on the patio, and even a cozy fireplace inside, they are nice.

The standout moment? A sunset nap on the patio with the ocean breeze gently lulling me to sleep. That, my friends, was a 10/10 experience. Cozy bedding and ocean breeze pair perfectly with an espresso to start the day. I was happy to have espresso in-room, something a lot of luxury hotels have removed from rooms of asrecent.

The attention to detail extended beyond aesthetics. When I forgot my toothbrush, I messaged our concierge (via WhatsApp, which was convenient enough.) A toothbrush kit was delivered in minutes. I do wish essentials like that were already in the room, but hey, the personalized service more than made up for it.

We need to also mention, the chamomile tea service was a highlight of the stay for Sarah, which she described as “obsessively good.”

Two-Bedroom Garden View Residence

After the first night, we booked in a Two-Bedroom Garden View Residence. The residence portion of this is key because the rooms are different. While the residences have access to the resort amenities at Las Ventanas Al Paraiso Los Cabos, they are privately owned.

The attention to detail was certainly different in the residences. The rooms were darker and were missing that high ceiling opulence that made the suites feel so special. Also things like less available hot water, room tea service, and experience were, just, different? If you are headed there with a family, these might be a great option in low season – but they did not feel as luxurious as the suites and they are not centrally located by main pool area or the beach. They were close to restaurants and a quiet pool with a sliver of an oceanview – they certainly did not give the same feeling as staying in the Oceanview Suite.

Dining at Las Ventanas Al Paraiso Los Cabos

Dinner our first night was at one of the resort’s newer restaurants, an Italian restaurant called Alebrije. The restaurant is set by the main pool area, an area that is truly stunning. The dinner was…fine? I honestly can’t remember much about our dinner there, and for the price point, that’s a red flag. Not a bad meal, just not a memorable one.

The Ceviche and Tequila Bar offered less ambience and had similar issues—it didn’t feel special enough to justify the price tag. Service was a bit slow, too, although they offered a complimentary cocktail to smooth things over, which was appreciated.

Breakfast every morning, however, was Las Ventana’s Al Paraiso, a Rosewood Resort’s food redemption review moment. The complimentary breakfast was indulgent and set the tone for the day. Seriously, the breakfast is a standout. We loved the french toast (get it to share, its rich,) the Wake Me Up Smoothie, and the Shredded Beef Machaca, which we all ordered at least twice. We had breakfast each day at the Sea Grill – the oceanside restaurant – and it was a highlight of our stay.

The other redemption dining moment – Arbol. This is our second time dining at Arbol, last year we visited from off-property – which I recommend. It is truly both a memorable and delicious experience. The attentive service, the unique dishes like the Lobster Fried Rice, North Indian Chicken Makhani Curry, and Stir-Fried Wagyu make it worth it. Adding in the poolside, luxury ambience make it feel like a great value for the (high-ish) price point.

The Property and Pools

The manicured grounds, bright bougainvillea flowers, and beachfront setting make an immediate visual impact. Whether lounging by the pool or walking along the sandy shoreline, everything about the resort feels understated but not minimal, intentional and elegant.

We visited during a pretty busy week, but the staff here is incredible at managing space. No fighting for pool chairs or beach loungers, and the service was equally spectacular. One standout moment was when Sarah tried to adjust her pool chair, and a staff member literally jumped over the edge of a pool and sprinted over to assist her. It’s that level of attentiveness that makes you pause and go, “Wow, this is nice.” +1 for Las Ventanas Al Paraiso, a Rosewood Resort reviews.

Beachside Massages

We were a bit surprised a Rosewood Resort like Las Ventanas Al Paraiso did not have many spa reviews. We also we skipped the indoor spa—the lack of true hydrotherapy circuit wasn’t calling to us— but we opted for beachside massages, which turned out to be glorious. The sound of the waves, the gentle breeze, and expert masseuses combined to make this one of the most relaxing experiences of the entire trip. Highly recommend for anyone heading to Las Ventanas Al Paraiso Los Cabos! Maybe by this point we were all a bit numb to spending, but the pricepoint for 30 minutes was much more palatable than 60 minutes in the spa.

Scoring the Las Ventanas Al Paraiso Experience

Our Ratings for Las Ventanas Al Paraiso

While we’re not experts, we like to think our scoring system is pretty balanced. Here’s how Las Ventanas performed based on some key factors.

The Room:

Junior Oceanview Rooftop Terrace Junior Suite

  • Rating: 10/10
  • Why?: The views, the vibe, the patio—absolutely unbeatable. We would certainly recommend staying in these suites or the signature villas – maybe just go on low season to save $$$ for upgrades. From what we can tell the Signature Villas are stunning.

Two-Bedroom Garden View Residence

  • Rating: 7.5/10
  • Why?: The beds were nice, the service was still attentive, the hot tub on the terrace was still great but the location and feel just felt different and far, in a lot of ways. Stay in these if going for an extended period or traveling with a larger group with children and go in the off-season.

Resort Vibes:

  • Rating: 9.5/10
  • Why?: The grounds are stunning and perfectly blend luxury with a deep connection to the surrounding landscape.

Food:

  • Rating: 6.5/10
  • Why?: The breakfast and Arbol was incredible, but the Italian dinner was forgettable, especially for the price.

The People:

  • Rating: 9.5/10
  • Why?: The staff genuinely want to make your experience top-notch. A small issue at check-in aside, they excel at service. I do wish they had more self-service options like an app to schedule reservations or to look into services, but the concierge you are assigned is always willing to help. A word of advice, just get the bill and reservation detail on paper – the check in and check out experience can be confusing without it.

Final Thoughts

Las Ventanas al Paraíso lives up to its name as a window to paradise. Despite a few hiccups, the overall experience was one of undeniable luxury and relaxation. This is, by far, the most beautiful resort we have ever stayed in but it is also the most expensive, so we may have had too high of expectations. If you’re considering a honeymoon spot, a special getaway, or simply indulging for a few days, this resort should definitely be on your radar. I think we will go back in shoulder season when rates are not at their peak. At peak rates, we were just slightly disappointed with the residences – but less disappointed with the Oceanview resort rooms.

Speaking of rates, for transparency’s sake – our stay was not compensated. We did receive a 10% discount on our stay but they did not require us to post a review and encouraged us to be honest in our feedback.

Also, keep an eye out on the added fees on top of the room rates – a resort fee + 10% tax means the price you see on a lot of resorts is not what you will be paying per night. That really added up for us.

And if Cabo’s not on your bucket list yet, go ahead and pencil it in—you won’t regret it. If you are looking for a more budget-friendly option that is all inclusive check out Marquis Los Cabos.
